Some women celebrate beating cancer by discovering the world, or helping others……we’re out to do both.
Over one week, groups of breast cancer survivors put aside their own battles with breast cancer to take up a new challenge – building houses and schools in impoverished communities around the world.
In December 2005 an intrepid group of breast cancer survivors traveled to Sri Lankato spend one week building houses for poor families in the slums of Colombo. Their amazing adventure changed forever the lives of the local children, and transcended cultural, gender and language barriers.
In 2006 and 2007, two groups of breast cancer survivors travelled to Madurai in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu to spend one week building a cottage for orphaned children, meeting with local breast cancer survivors and visiting village community development projects.
In July 2006, another group of extraordinary women journeyed into the soul of North America, spending one week living and working on the Blackfeet Indian reservation in Montana . They helped to build a cultural centre for the local children, before embarking on a two day spiritual healing retreat in the Rocky Mountains led by local Blackfeet women.
